Under the Broom Tree Elijah had just faced down 450 prophets on Mount Carmel, fire fell from heaven, a nation watched, it was a clear win. A day later he was under a broom tree in the wilderness asking God to let him die (1 Kings 19:4). Not because the ministry failed. Because it succeeded, and no one was there to carry it with him. Look at what God does next. He doesn't rebuke Elijah. He doesn't hand him a new strategy. He sends sleep, bread, and water, twice, before He sends a single word of instruction (1 Kings 19:5-8). Provision comes before assignment. And when God finally does speak, it's in a whisper, not another display of fire. Then comes the part every DOM will recognize. God tells Elijah about seven thousand others in Israel who haven't bowed to Baal, leaders he didn't even know were still standing (1 Kings 19:18). And God sends Elisha: someone to walk beside him for the rest of the assignment (1 Kings 19:19-21). An Association exists for exactly that reason. Not to add another meeting to your calendar, but to be the seven thousand and the Elisha, proof you're not the only one still standing, and someone walking with you before the next hard thing comes. If this is a broom-tree week, let this be the bread before the instruction: you are not carrying this by yourself.
